week4: thing 8-RSS

I have never heard of RSS before but now I feel so smart. When I go back to work I'm going to ask the teachers if they use RSS, then I'll feel even smarter because probably most of them won't have heard of it. I think it's pretty cool how you can access the different things, like blogs or news, on just the one page. I would still like to find a good site where they blog about books. I'm going to give myself another day to find the one I like, preferrebly one that has to do with young adult lit. This would be useful for me as a high school librarian.
so anyway, these are some of the ones that I have picked, it's a little blurry so you may need to get out the magnifying glass.

Techno blog

Even though the computer has been around for some time now it is still the one thing that continues to amaze me. It's the mother spider with all its' thousands of babies on her back. I have to say though that it sort of creeps me out when I see those messages--Good morning Christina, may we recommend...., especially after reading the book Feed. The computer may not be physically attached to my brain but it probably knows more about me than my ex-husband.
I would like to add that I finished one book during break and am currently reading three others. I keep one book upstairs and one downstairs and this has cut down on my having to go up and down, up and down. I also read to my 13 year old which he absolutely loves.

week3-FlickR discovery

I could spend hours on FlickR playing around. I made trading cards from pictures that I took when my son played baseball--it was just too cute. The picture I posted was from FD Toys and I used the Motivator template. I was trying to think of a way to make READ posters on my own until I could afford the software that ALA sells. Since I had a whole bunch of pictures from my site I used the one shown. The only thing I can't figure out how to do is make the picture smaller so if anyone wants to give me any advice that would be great. Sometimes I feel like I'm just rambling on but rambling and blogging almost sounds the same to me.

I swear this looks just like my dog Charley, right down to the collar--the thing is I don't ever remember taking her to the beach. I found this while playing around with Montagr. How cool is that.

week3-Flickr picture

OK, I have been on Flickr for 2 days now and I am still trying to figure it out. I set up an account and even put a picture on and I have spent most of the time looking at pictures, groups, contacts and other things. I am more familiar with Flickr toys and didn't even realize that Flickr was a place to organize and share pictures. Now I know and I have to say I think it is pretty groovy (sorry, I had to throw that one in). It will be interesting to see if the picture I have chosen will actually be on my blog site or just the link. I chose this picture because I was born in San Francisco and think it is a beautiful city and I love the Golden Gate Bridge. I wonder if the photographer touched up the picture? I also saw a photo of the library that I used to work at as I was playing around on the site, I wonder who took that picture?
I really enjoy learning about all these things.

week2-blogging/avatar/scusd

Well I never thought I would be a blogger but here I am. The process was not too painful, the hardest thing was getting my avatar to reflect my personality and I think I did an all right job. My kids thought my avatar was weird but I think they are weird so it's all good. I like the idea of setting up a blog at school--once I get my site set up I would really like to add this feature. The only problem is that it's Christmas break and I have come down with a bad case of the lazys.

week1-7 1/2 habits

This is all so amazing and groovy for I am now an official blogger. Which lifelong learning habit was easiest for me? That would definitely have to be 7 1/2 because I love to play. I hope the neighbors weren't looking out their windows to see me hiding in their yard last month when I was playing sardines with my children late one night. The hardest habit is the confidence. Although I have come a long way and am even quite groovy I sometimes regress back to that shy person I was so long ago and question the work that I have done. Will my co-workers or peers like what I have accomplished as much a I do? Will they think it's stupid? When I think like this I put on my big black boots and boxing gloves and beat down the self-imposed put downs. Mentally of course.
